PopMatters | Review: The Electric – Life Is Moving
The Electric are a three-member supergroup masterminded by DJ Vadim. Joining him in this musical powerhouse (pun intended) are UK-based songstress Sabrina Jade and Chicago-based emcee Pugs Atomz. Life Is Moving is experimental music at its finest, and seemingly designed to be played at loud volumes. Standout tracks here include the quirky, trippy “Toot Toot (Freestyle)”, Sabrina Jade’s soulful solo joint entitled “Sometimes”, the surprisingly mellow “I’m All In” and the head nod and finger snap-inducing title track, “Life Is Moving”. Special guests include Yarah Bravo, Abstract Rude and Wes Reckless. The album’s running time may be a bit long for the tastes of some, but things move along fairly quickly here… especially if you’re up and shaking your ass. For those that feel that the outlook of today’s music is looking a bit dark, the Electric implores you to plug them in and see the spark.
