Hip-Hop Show Has Grog Shop ‘Up in Smoke’
So Issue 3 failed miserably at the polls last week — a good thing in the eyes of many, but that didn’t stop the Grog Shop from going up in smoke last night for the Happy Holidaze tour featuring Devin the Dude and Potluck. Check out a slideshow of photos from the concert.
Over the course of his career, Houston’s Devin The Dude has released eight albums along with two EPs. His last album was 2013’s One For The Road. It’s Devin’s charismatic but ordinary everyman approach to most life situations in general that allows him to be as crass as he wants to be without necessarily coming off as threatening and has enabled him to have a cult following among both weed-smokers and nonsmokers .
Humboldt County’s own Potluck filled the Grog Shop’s stage with sponsorship banners, two flat-screen monitors that played videos to accompany each of their songs and a larger than life inflatable Crown Royal bottle. At one point during the set, a presidential looking emcee dubbed Flobama emerged from stage left, promising to “free the weed,” although by that point it had already been emancipated by plenty of concertgoers.
